So guys,
I know I just wrote this morning about how I love my hair and it's so awesome, etc. Well, I lied. It's terrible. I'm exasperated.
Bad hair days happen to naturals too. When my hair was straight, a quick fix for a hair disaster was never more than a scrunchie away. Now that my hair is free to do its thing, however, without careful supervision it can run wild.
This morning I took down my overnight braids and noticed I had a nice fluffy set! I pinned it under quite artfully (or so I thought), threw on a silver tiara and declared myself cute.
By the time I got to the office, my hair was escaping everywhere and I honestly could have passed for someone with Super Saiyan heritage. My fatal error? I had styled my dry hair without using gel.
The takeaway message from this sad tale is two-fold: First you should test out any new hairstyle at home first before taking it out in public. Secondly, take time to think a process through and evaluate how your hair will react beforehand (no gel + 'out' hair = giant afro).
And maybe the third thing is 'if at first you don't succeed....' I'm off to braid my hair for the night. Gonna lick this style tomorrow.
Er...and the fourth: Always have a back-up plan. I have interviews tomorrow, after all. Can't go to work looking insane.
